Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Screening Date 2024-10-23 Job Description Summary The Equity and Equal Opportunity Investigator I ("EEO Investigator I") in the Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity ("OEEO") reports to the Associate Vice President for Equity and Equal Opportunity ("AVP EEO"), and will oversee the report intake process and harassment and discrimination prevention training. Under the guidance of the AVP EEO, the EEO Investigator I will investigate reports of harassment and discrimination based on protected class status. This position will support the OEEO's mission of promoting fairness and justice, ensuring that each member of the Miami University community is and feels included, and will foster a diverse and welcoming environment that is equally accessible for all who live, learn, work, and participate in activities at Miami University. Job Description Essential Duties: Manage the intake process for reports of protected class-based harassment and discrimination and unfair hiring practices; Assist the AVP EEO with, and conduct, protected class-based harassment and discrimination and unfair hiring investigations; Develop, update, and manage online and in-person harassment and discrimination prevention and duty to report training courses, including the new hire online training program; Manage the case management system; Conduct report audits; Travel to regional campuses, conferences, and training opportunities as appropriate; May supervise student employees; and Other duties as assigned, including administrative responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and experience conducting interviews, writing reports, managing cases, and conducting training. Related experience gained during the completion of degree programs may be counted towards these requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting harassment and discrimination investigations. Experience conducting harassment and discrimination prevention training. Experience managing online harassment and discrimination prevention training programs. Experience using case management software. Experience working with faculty, staff, students, and community members in a higher education setting. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of non-discrimination rules, policies, and regulations. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent analytical skills. Excellent reasoning and organizational skills. Ability to pay attention to detail. Ability to make difficult decisions based on complex information. Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
