As an Associate Adjuster Inside Property, you will play a vital role in The Hanover's success by providing a critical service to the business and its customers. As a member of the Claims team, you will work in a dynamic and fast paced environment to help our customers after an unexpected event. In your role, you will investigate, evaluate, and help settle our customers’ claims. You will be responsible for meeting and exceeding goals and metrics that drive the success of the claims organization.

Flexible Schedule: Typically 1-3 days in office, 2-4 days remote; 7.75 hours/day (38.75 hours/week) Monday-Friday; hours may flex between 7:30am – 6pm
May be required to work in office during initial training period

Responsibilities:
• Must have or secure and maintain appropriate states adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits
• Analyze, evaluate, negotiate and help settle claims of minimal complexity
• Uses discretion and independent judgment in claim handling
• Possesses basic functional knowledge and skills reflective of study and/or on job development
• Phone contact with customers is required to confirm cause, coverage, liability and damages
• Responds to customers in a polite, professional and empathetic manner, matching their needs with The Hanover’s services
• Identifies possibly suspicious claims and may work with the Special Investigations Unit to resolve and negotiate settlements
• May take recorded statements
• May be required to have and maintain sufficient home-based internet connection
• May be part of a formal training program
Skills and Experience:
• Associate’s degree or working towards your associate’s degree is strongly preferred
• Typically 1 -3 years of experience in the service, financial, or hospitality industry preferred
• For Workers Comp and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) ONLY: Knowledge or experience in medical services a plus
• For Commercial General Liability ONLY: Knowledge or experience in medical terminology and/or construction a plus
• Self-starter
• Has an energetic, positive and professional attitude
• Proficiency in using and toggling between multiple computer applications, dual screens, and MS Office products (Word/Excel); Independent use of provided resources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills using a variety of tools including phone, email, a core claims system and vendor platforms
• Seeks to collaborate and promotes inclusion and respect
• Has good judgment and makes decisions in an informed, confident and timely manner in the best interest of the company and policy holder
• Thinks critically and anticipates, identifies and develops solutions to problems in a timely manner; operates with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision
