Job Title: Train Dispatcher

Location: Mount Laurel, New Jersey

Reports to: Supervisor Service Delivery

The Train Dispatcher is a unionized position (ATDA). This position may work extended and irregular hours to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts. Daily and overnight travel will be required up to 25%.

Description:

• Plan, Coordinate, and document all train movements/operations in assigned territory.
• Communicate/Issue instructions relative to status of train operations. Communicate track, communications, and signal conditions to railroad and other personnel.
• Maintain current understanding of government regulations/company rules regarding transportation.
• Input, retrieve, and update data via computer terminals.
• Recognize, analyze and evaluate information in order to resolve problems or make decisions.
• Report alleged violations of operating rules to supervision.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years Railroad experience preferred
• High School diploma required

Requirements:

• Respond to audio signals
• Must perform work that requires bending, stopping, climbing.
• Remain standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
• Must perform activities involving the use of hands.
• Must be willing to work irregular shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Willing/Able to respond to changing work assignments.
• Willing/Able to work with strict supervision and strict performance standards.
• Willing/Able to assume responsibility for the safety of others.
• Physical examination required including drug and alcohol screening.
