Tax Accountant
Central San Antonio - In-Office
Compensation: $80k + Bonus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with other members of VP's tax team to ensure accurate and timely filing of all fuel returns, claims, and Sales & Use tax returns.
• Ensure that the ERP system/ Avalara has accurate rates and efficiently supports the reporting above.
• Ensure timely payment of fuel, sales, and use taxes.
• Keep current on taxation rules, policies, and filing procedures.
• Handle correspondence with taxing authorities. (requests/notices/audits/etc)
• Support/educate internal and external customers on tax related issues.
• Prepare Resale & Exemption Certificates; Multi-jurisdictional Sales Certificates for Vendors.
• Maintain and review NetSuite tax exemptions for customers.
• Proactively maintain appropriate bonds, licenses and any other governmental requirements.
• Develop and monitor processes/controls to ensure accurate and efficient tax compliance.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to fuel/sales taxes
• Drive process improvement and efficiencies.
• Coordinate with other offices as needed.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
  

Requirements

Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Proficient knowledge of Excel, problem solving and analytical skills required.

Education And Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
3+ years of related experience is preferred.
Experience overseeing an organization's tax documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
