Job Description

At MALVI we are passionate about creating stuff that works . We are looking for a like-minded Junior Front-end developer to join the team.

About our team:

MALVI is an award-winning design, strategy and communication agency based in Thessaloniki, Greece.

We design brands, products, spaces and strategies for growth and we are all excited with what we do. Everything we design or build serves its intended purpose 100%, and we don't stop until we get there. So, you will only enjoy this as much as we do, if you share the same passion and excitement. While MALVI handles the high-end, high-purpose projects of the office, its digital services offspring function() , develops top of the line e-commerce builds (through our Shopify partnership), as well as accommodate client needs through other web related service-based aspects.

This is a team in which designers understand coding, developers understand marketing and marketers understand design, so as long as you are willing to learn new, exciting stuff beyond designing websites and interfaces, then you're very likely a good match. Oh, you must also have high tolerance to cheesy jokes.

All this in a casual environment where the avant-garde sense of humor, the appreciation of great food and the desire to deliver jaw-dropping results exist in equal quantities.

Your responsibilities:

As an entry-level Junior Web developer your day will mostly involve supporting existing clients with their everyday, business-as-usual operations and various requests, through a task assignment system. You will be working closely with our core team to assess and resolve any issues, or help find solutions for new functionality implementation. We don’t expect you to know everything from day one; what matters most is your willingness to learn and improve.

As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that range from web-based interfaces and online stores to VR environments. You will communicate with team members from different disciplines (all of them amazing), as well as directly with clients.

Once you feel comfortable enough with the ins and outs of the existing projects (mostly familiarizing yourself with Shopify's requirements for Online Store 2.0, Liquid templating, etc.), you can be given the opportunity to head a project build on your own, with the support of the team.

Does this sound like an opportunity to take your career into your own hands and build amazing stuff? If so, then please get in touch and let us know why.

PS: A CV is useful so we know what you've done so far, but anyone can put together a list of skills and qualifications. It's far more important that we understand who you are. We are passionate about creating stuff that works. What are you genuinely passionate about? That's what we'd like to know.

Requirements

You must fulfill the following requirements :

  • Ability to understand assignments (both team and client requests) and break them down into actionable tasks.
  • Excellent communication with clients, designers and the rest of the team.
  • Ability to translate a given design into a code.
  • A restless mind who will always push the boundaries and seek optimal solutions.
  • Willingness to acquire extensive knowledge of Shopify and programming in Liquid.

Skills and knowledge:

  • 1-3 years of experience

  • Proficient in English

  • HTML5 / CSS3

  • JavaScript / Ajax / PHP

  • JS Frameworks, libraries, etc.

  • Node.js

  • Experience with e-Commerce platforms (familiarity with WooCommerce or Shopify required)

  • Experience with GitHub repository

  • Experience with integrations through 3rd party APIs

  • Familiarity with light server management tasks

  • A background in client-facing roles (such as technical support, customer support, etc) is a plus

Benefits

We'd hate to humblebrag, but we do offer:

  • A great work environment.
  • Private Health Insurance (on top of the mandatory Public Health Insurance).
  • A generous vacation package (min. 29 days of paid time off, per year).
  • More space than you'll ever need to experiment and explore ideas.
  • An open-plan office by the sea.
  • Training & skill development (both in person and through courses, webinars, etc).
  • Freedom to manage your work any way you like, as long as you work closely with the rest of us and deliver top quality results on time.
  • Frequent opportunities to taste great food.
