POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Family Engagement the Family Advocate provides support and resources to ODA families, participates in the planning and coordination of family engagement trainings, site events, family events, and ensures compliance with Programing and Company standards.

Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Family Advocate responsibilities.
- Identifies and establishes strong relationships with community partners that provide resources and support networks for families.
- Attends district meetings and school partner meetings as appropriate.
- Supports and tracks parent engagement data toward parent and performance goals.
- Supports and attends parent orientations at assigned campuses.
- Shares responsibility for recruiting two Family Advisory Council (FAC) members per campus.
- In collaboration with the district manager and staff at each site is responsible for recruiting scholars.
- Participates as a member of the FAC
- Works collaboratively with staff and community agencies to support the needs of families and children enrolled in Open Doors Academy.
- Attends the afterschool program from 3:00 – 6:00 pm three to four days a week at least once a week per campus.
- Participates in cross-departmental collaboration
- Responsible for leading family engagement opportunities and planning family events.
- Completes and maintains ODJFS certifications and trainings.
- Builds a relationship with the district and/or building level family liaison. Attends related district and building meetings and shares information with the district team.
- Coordinates ODA family engagement resources and communicates these opportunities with families and district leadership.
- Supports and attends school family events.
- Supports and assists parent conferences as necessary.
- Attends all ODA family engagement opportunities and family events.
- Forms positive relationships with district caregivers, youth participants, families, and community members.
- Utilizes Family Assessment Survey to help families determine short-term and long-term goals.
- Makes appropriate referrals for families to community agencies when appropriate.
- Enters data into ODA’s data management system.
- Maintains the confidentiality of information.
- Coordination and Planning of family training responsibilities:
- Assists Director of Family Engagement with the planning and implementation of family engagement opportunities and events.
- Works collaboratively with Advancement department in planning Holiday Heart Giving Program.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in family services, social sciences or another related field
Experience:
- A minimum of three years’ experience in family and community engagement field required.
- Experience in non-profit preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong Organizational Skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong time management skills.
- Considerable knowledge of local resources that could potentially serve our families’ specific needs.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Flexibility in work schedule is required to meet with participants in various settings (home, community, office).

- Ability to quickly build trust and maintain confidentiality.
