Salary: $70,000 to $95,000 Annually (salary commensurate with education and experience)
General Statement of Duties: The Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for a tenure-track position with a specialization in an emerging field of criminal justice (e.g. cybercrime, forensics, crime scene investigation, fraud investigation) at the Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. The Department seeks an energetic educator with a commitment to teaching and learning, rooted in a broad-based liberal arts education and the social science tradition of critical inquiry.

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to:
- Teaching load is 24 credits each year, typically 12 credits each semester.
- Provide excellence in teaching across different modalities including face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes.
- Development and teaching of undergraduate courses
- Expected to engage in scholarly activity, which can take many different forms.
- Provide academic advising and other support to students; opportunities to advise student research are available and encouraged.
- Expected to offer service to the department, university, and community.
- Opportunities for teaching at the graduate level in the Master of Science and Master of Public Administration programs exist.
The Department of Criminal Justice at Westfield State University is the first such program in Massachusetts and is considered a premier program in the Commonwealth with more than 6,500 alumni. The program is also highly recognized in the Northeast region. The University's degree programs in Criminal Justice have 500 undergraduates and 75 master's students (MS).
Requirements: Required Qualifications: - Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching.
- A Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology or a related discipline is required; ABD may be considered; JD alone will not be considered.
Additional Information: Salary: Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
